Writing from his prison cell in Rome, Paul gave the church in Colossae the greatest picture of Christ in the New Testament. Having never been to Colossae, in what is now modern Turkey, Paul instructed these Christians about the Lord. Christ, he taught, is the visible picture of the invisible God. Jesus Christ is exactly like God for he is the Son of God. He is above all creation and holds it all together. Having given his life to rescue them - while they were yet his enemies, Jesus Christ now reigns in heaven. And in a mystery, Christ also lived in them - the very hope of glory.
